14 years. That’s how long Max was my whole world.
From 2012 to 2026, this boy showed up for me in ways no one else ever could. Loyal. Steady. Always there.
I held him until the very end, his favorite stuffed animal by his side, a candle lit for the gentlest soul I’ve ever known. I wanted his last moments wrapped in everything familiar and warm.
There’s a photo of him on that frame, tongue out, eyes bright, full of life. That’s how I’ll carry him. Not like this, but like THAT.
They really do take a piece of you when they go. 💔
The house doesn’t feel the same. My hands don’t know what to do without him to reach for.
People keep saying the right things and I appreciate every word, but grief doesn’t care about logic. It just sits there, heavy and quiet, in the space where he used to be.
Run free, Max. You were never just a dog to me. You were the constant. The safe place. The best decision I ever made. 🐾
2012 to 2026 was never going to be long enough. But what a life we gave each other.
